Unions 21 is pleased to welcome Becky Wright as their new Director.
Becky takes on the role after working at the Trades Union Congress (TUC) as the Director of the Organising Academy where she was responsible for the development and delivery of the organisation’s training and development for union staff in relation to organising and capacity building.
Becky said: ‘I’m very excited to be at Unions 21 at such a crucial time for the trade union movement. We are facing unprecedented challenges and Unions 21 is well placed to assist member unions to consider alternatives, be creative in their approaches and face the future demands head on.’
Chair of Unions 21, Sue Ferns added ‘We are delighted to appoint Becky in this post. Her knowledge of the union movement plus her skills and experience of being an industrial officer and campaigner give her a unique insight in how we develop as an organisation and bring new ideas to unions.'
Adds Becky 'Unions 21 is known for producing high quality research and events for the trade union movement which I am looking forward to continuing and I am delighted that at our annual conference in March I will be able to outline our future priorities and initiatives.
Becky has been working in the trade union movement since 2001 when she joined the TSSA as an Organising Academy Organiser and has worked on a variety of national and regional campaigns and union projects for different unions. As well as a BA in Politics, she hold an MRes, Certificate in Education and has studied Contemporary European Labour Studies as Masters Level.
