Our newly revamped Future Leaders programme began this month with two cohorts based in London and Dublin respectively.
Led by our executive director, Becky Wright, the participants dove deep into the critical skills needed to navigate today's complex union landscape.
Understanding strategy and the need for change
The theme of this module was about the importance of strategy, how to plan and the importance to be open to change.
We covered:
Understanding strategy and strategic choice theory
Changes to labour markets and the impact on unions
Crafting compelling purpose statements
Ken White, AGS at the AHCPS in Ireland said
[The main learning points were] Identifying the key differences between strategy and plan. I want to increase our membership numbers and I know the steps I want to take to achieve this. I know the tools in my possession to help me achieve my goal and these tools are not an end in of themself, that’s a mindset shift for me.
We're excited to continue supporting their journey and witnessing the innovative approaches they'll bring to the union movement.
